VINTAGE VERSE: "If You Ask Me" by Helen Ramsey from the IDEALS Christmas Magazine 1967 If you ask me, I think my dad Likes my gifts best of all; My tops and guns and boxing gloves, My catcher's mitt and ball. 'Cause when I'm looking at my stuff Beside the Christmas tree, Dad says, "Now, son, I'll help you." And sits right down with me. I'll never need his help, of course, But it's no use to say. Dad simply pushes me aside, And starts right in to play. I hardly get to try my gun, 'Cause he can shoot so straight. And any kind of windup toy He has to demonstrate. If you ask me, I think my dad Likes every toy I get, And if I didn't complain, He'd be playing with them yet. ~*~Kaleb's MamaMimi~*~ |

"Christmas Holidays" by Elizabeth Bertram
VINTAGE VERSE: "Christmas Holidays" by Elizabeth Bertram from the IDEALS Christmas Magazine 1967 The airmails streak across the sky And trains puff on their tracks, All loaded down with Christmas gifts... A million Santa's packs. The postman with his bulging bag Goes tramping down the street To bring the gifts and friendly cards That make our day complete. The telegraph clicks busily And yellow sheets appear With messages of great good will From distant ones held dear. And over many a telephone Loved voices, calling home, Span mountains, plains and deserts And far-off ocean foam. The airwaves pulse with happiness, Carolers sing their lays, Church altars glow with holy light As a nation humbly prays. So riding on this surging flood My wish speeds on its way... May troubles fade, and in your house Dwell Christmas every day. ~*~Kaleb's MamaMimi~*~ |
